Laptop Body, Casing & Panel Repair
Cracked palm rests, split bottom panels, broken bezels and damaged corners — welded and reinforced, or replaced where structure demands it.
Cosmetic damage on a laptop is easy to dismiss, but casing problems have structural consequences. The plastic body is what holds the motherboard flat, keeps connectors aligned and stops the board flexing when you type. A cracked palm rest or a broken bottom panel mounting point lets the board move, and board movement over months produces cracked solder joints and intermittent faults that look like completely unrelated problems.
So body repair is worth doing, but it is worth doing properly. The usual approach — a blob of adhesive across the crack — holds for a few weeks. We plastic-weld the crack and reinforce it from the inside with mesh and epoxy, which restores actual structural strength rather than just closing the gap.
The technical detail, if you want it
Where a crack is located determines whether it can be repaired or must be replaced. A crack running across an open area of a palm rest or bottom panel is straightforward to weld and reinforce — the repair is invisible from inside and structurally sound. A crack running through a screw boss or a hinge mount is different, because those points carry concentrated load, and a repaired boss will fail again. In those cases replacement is the correct answer and we will say so even though it costs you more.
The technique matters too. Plastic welding uses heat and a filler rod of matching plastic to fuse the crack rather than bridge it, which means the repair has the same material properties as the surrounding body. Reinforcing mesh set into epoxy on the inner face spreads load across the repair. Done together, a welded and reinforced palm rest is genuinely as strong as the original in most locations.
Colour and finish are the practical limitation. Replacement panels for older or less common models are frequently only available in a different colour or finish, and we tell you that before ordering rather than after fitting. For many customers a well-executed repair in the original colour is preferable to a replacement panel that does not match.

Structural assessment
We determine whether the crack passes through a load-bearing screw boss or hinge mount, because that decides repair versus replacement.

Internal check for consequences
Board mounting points, connector alignment and any cable pinching caused by the damage are checked, since these cause the faults that follow.

Plastic welding
The crack is fused with heat and a matching filler rod so the repair shares the material properties of the surrounding body, rather than being glued across.

Internal reinforcement
Reinforcing mesh set in epoxy on the inner face spreads load across the repair and prevents the crack propagating further.

Screw boss rebuilding
Broken bosses rebuilt with brass threaded inserts where the location allows, giving a metal thread instead of fatigued plastic.

Replacement where required
Where structure demands it, the panel is replaced — with colour and finish availability confirmed to you before ordering, not after.

Fit, alignment and vent check
Reassembled with correct clip engagement and screw torque, rubber feet replaced, and airflow clearance under the machine verified.

Advice from our bench
Some of this reduces the amount of work we get. We would still rather you knew it.
Get cracks dealt with early. They propagate under normal use, and a small crack that could be welded becomes a panel replacement.
Never sit, lean or place heavy objects on a closed laptop. It is the most common cause of casing failure we see.
Missing rubber feet are worth replacing — they lift the machine and let air reach the intake vents.
If your laptop creaks or flexes when you type, something structural has failed inside. It is worth checking before it causes board problems.
For older models, ask about colour availability before agreeing to a panel replacement. A good repair often looks better than a mismatched panel.
