Lenovo covers two very different worlds. ThinkPads are among the most repairable laptops ever built — modular, well documented, with parts that come apart in a sensible order and a hardware maintenance manual for every model. A ThinkPad with a healthy board can be kept running for a decade, and we have customers here doing exactly that.

IdeaPad and V-series consumer machines are a different proposition. They are built to a price, the plastics are thinner, and the hinge and casing failures we see are more common. They are still very much worth repairing — an IdeaPad with a rebuilt hinge and an SSD is a perfectly good machine — but they need more care in handling.

Legion gaming laptops are well engineered thermally compared with many competitors, but they still need annual servicing in this climate. Yoga convertibles add hinge complexity because the lid rotates fully, which puts different stresses on the display cable, and we check that cable carefully on every Yoga that comes in.
